Matt Sherwin's credits include Sound Design/Original Music for the widely acclaimed, Obie Award-winning BORN BAD at Soho Rep.  Other productions include 'GLUTEN!' at 59e59 (for which he received the Innovative Theatre Award for Outstanding Original Music), the Drama Desk-nominated THE ACCOMPLICES at The New Group, A SPALDING GRAY MATTER and CRITICAL DARLING (The New Group), MACBETH (two productions for Lincoln Center Theater), THE VALLEY OF FEAR (Williamstown Theater Festival), SONS OF THE PROPHET (TheatreSquared), ONE THOUSAND BLINKS (59e59), WHITE PEOPLE (Ensemble Studio Theatre), ROUGH SKETCH (rUDE mECHANICALS @ 59e59), SIX (Jewish Plays Project), THE AWESOME DANCE (Speranza Theatre Company), CYMBELINE and THE COMPLETE WORKS OF WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE (Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival), HERESY/PROGRESS (Immigrants' Theatre Project), 365 PLAYS: WEEK 6 BY SUZAN-LORI PARKS (Public Theater), and TWENTY-ONE (Spring Theatreworks).

Matt has also served as Guest/Resident Artist at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, NYU/Stella Adler Studio, Yale University and Harvard University.  He is currently a Lecturer with SUNY Purchase. 

In addition to his theatre work, Matt is an accomplished singer-songwriter: the writer/producer of two albums, COLD READER and 12:30 SONGS. he is the recipient of multiple Honor Awards from Billboard and the Songwriters Resource Network.  He is a veteran performer, having played at venues across the city and beyond, including Pianos, Joe's Pub, CB's Gallery, The Bottom Line and The Bitter End.

For the last fifteen years, Matt has been a Teaching Artist with Lincoln Center Theater's Songwriting in the Schools Program.  With students, Matt has collaborated on over one hundred fifty songs, over fifty of which have been performed at Lincoln Center's annual celebration concert.

Matt received his BA from Oberlin College and MFA from the NYU/Tisch Graduate Musical Theatre Writing program.
